Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO) for NSA Cyber Network Operator Training
This MARADMIN establishes an Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO) requirement for Marines attending senior-level NSA Cyber Network Operator training. Eligible Marines with MOS 1721 in the grade of Staff Sergeant and below must incur up to 36 months of additional obligated service to total 60 months, covering both training (30 months) and minimum utilization (30 months). The ADSO is processed through a RELM via MMEA-1 and does not affect reenlistment eligibility or selective retention bonus opportunities.

1. This message provides amplifying guidance to the Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO) requirement associated with attending senior level National Security Agency (NSA) Cyber Network Operator (CNO) training, per Ref D.<br> 1.a. Marines must gain up to 36 months of additional obligated service to total 60 months, accounting for both training and utilization. A generic training and utilization timeline is as follows:<br> 1.a.1. 15 months of senior cyber operator training.<br> 1.a.2. 15 months of joint qualification requirements.<br> 1.a.3. 30 months minimum utilization tour.<br> 1.b. Marines who volunteer to attend the formal training pipeline must gain additional obligated service prior to the convene date of senior level Cyber Operator training (i.e. FORGE 201). <br> 2. ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES<br> 2.a. Must hold the 1721 primary military occupational specialty (MOS).<br> 2.b. Active Duty Marines in the grade of Staff Sergeant and below.<br> 2.b. Must be stationed under MARFORCYBER or Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion. <br> 2.a. Must have at least 24 months remaining on current contract.<br> 2.b. Must have successfully completed FORGE 101 (CNOQC) and any additional screenings or assessments defined by MARFORCYBER.<br> 2.c. Time on station (TOS) requirements. Direct questions concerning tour lengths should be directed to the Primary MOS monitor.<br> 3. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS<br> 3.a. ADSO mechanism is a RELM via MMEA-1. <br> 3.b. EAS will be updated up to 60 months from the start date of senior CNO training. <br> 3.c. ADSO will not affect Marines' reenlistment opportunity based on their ECC. <br> 3.d. Marines will remain eligible for selective retention bonuses when submitting for reenlistment. <br> 4. This MARADMIN is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.<br> 5.
