Fiscal Year 2027 Military Occupational Specialties Manual Changes Implementation
This MARADMIN announces the implementation of the Fiscal Year 2027 Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) Manual, which contains significant changes including new officer and enlisted MOSs across multiple occupational fields, deletion of one enlisted MOS, title changes, and grade structure modifications. The changes will be implemented effective 1 October 2026 and apply to the entire Marine Corps Total Force, requiring commanding officers to process MOS conversions and school directors to begin awarding updated MOSs on that date.

1. Each year the Marine Corps Human Resource Development Process<br> is synchronized through publication of ref (A), the Military<br> Occupational Specialties (MOS) Manual. Ref (B) governs the process.<br> Ref (A) defines occupational specialties found on tables of<br> organization, identifies skills to meet organizational requirements,<br> and otherwise provides information that enables the Marine Corps<br> to carry out its assigned mission to organize, train, assign and<br> manage the force. The annual revision of the MOS Manual was<br> coordinated with the January 2026 authorized strength report.<br> 2. The fiscal year (FY) 2027 MOS Manual contains significant and<br> numerous changes. A complete list of changes can be found in the<br> conversion tables (chapters 2 and 4) of ref (A), which can be<br> viewed on the website identified in paragraph (par) 5 below.<br> 2.a. New officer MOSs were created in occupational fields (OccFlds)<br> 05, 17, 59, 80, and 88. New enlisted MOSs were created in OccFlds<br> 05, 13, 17, 59, and 81.<br> 2.b. Enlisted MOS 2146 (Heavy Ordnance Vehicle Repairer/Technician)<br> has been deleted.<br> 2.c. There are MOS title changes in officer OccFlds 02, 06, 26, 30,<br> 75, 80 and 82; there are no officer grade structure changes. <br> 2.d. There are MOS title changes in enlisted OccFlds 06, 13, 28,<br> 63, 82, and 86; and there are grade structure changes in enlisted<br> OccFld 06.<br> 2.e. There are changes to the summary, requirements, and <br> prerequisites fields within the MOS Manual in officer and enlisted<br> OccFlds 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09, 11, 13, 17, 18, 21, 23, 26,<br> 27, 28, 30, 33, 34, 41, 44, 45, 55, 57, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65,<br> 66, 68, 70, 72, 73, 80, 81, 82, 86, and 88.<br> 2.f. There are no officer category status changes. There are<br> category status changes in the enlisted OccFld 06.<br> 3. To ensure content accuracy and completeness of the MOS Manual,<br> significant changes to the MOS Manual were reviewed in accordance<br> with ref (B) by the personnel, organization and training working<br> groups, featuring representatives of Total Force Structure Division,<br> Training and Education Command (TECOM), and Manpower and Reserve<br> Affairs (M&RA), as well as occupational field managers and MOS<br> specialists.<br> 4. Execution<br> 4.a. As of 1 October 2026, the Total Force Structure Management<br> System and Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) will be updated<br> to reflect the revisions set forth in ref (A).<br> 4.b. Commanding officers and all personnel that rely on information<br> management systems, including, but not limited to MCTFS, Total Force<br> Structure Management System, and Marine Corps Training Information<br> Management System, shall familiarize themselves with the<br> revisions and take actions as directed in the manual.<br> 4.c. Commanding officers of reporting units must process MOS<br> conversions, deletions, and / or report any new MOSs for Marines<br> based on the revised manual as of 1 October 2026.<br> 4.d. School directors will begin awarding updated MOSs on 1 October<br> 2026 at which time obsolete MOSs will no longer be awarded.<br> 4.e. DC M&RA<br> 4.e.1. Convert MOSs in all systems including MCTFS as summarized in<br> chapters 2 and 4 of ref (A).<br> 4.e.2. Ensure appropriate action is completed for Marines affected<br> by deletion of their Primary MOS.<br> 5. The MOS Manual was approved on 2 March 2026 and is posted on the<br> Marine Corps directives website. The new MOS chart and ref (A) can<br> be viewed at https://usmc.sharepoint-mil.us/sites/TECOM_PSD_MOSMan.<br> 6. The MOS Manual is approved for implementation as of 1 October<br> 2026 (FY 2027).<br> 7. This Manual is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.<br> 8. Release authorized by LtGen Benjamin T.
