Advance Notice of Forthcoming Changes to MCO 1300.8 Marine Corps Personnel Assignment Policy

This MARADMIN provides advance notice of forthcoming changes to MCO 1300.8 (Marine Corps Personnel Assignment Policy) related to the full integration of women in the Armed Forces. The changes will establish unit assignment criteria for all non-ground combat arms MOS Marines seeking assignment to load-bearing combat arms units, and will delete Chapter 4 of the current order entirely.

1.  Purpose.  To announce forthcoming changes to reference (a) per references (b) and (c).
2.  Action.  The following administrative changes will be forthcoming in the official change to reference (a).
2a.  On page 1-2, paragraph 1.  Paragraph 1o will be added to read: o.  CMC (MMEA/MMOA/RAM) will apply unit assignment criteria to all non-ground combat arms military occupational specialty (MOS) Marines to determine eligibility for assignment to load-bearing combat arms units.  Load-bearing combat arms units are infantry battalions and regiments, reconnaissance battalions, force reconnaissance companies, combat engineer/assault companies, and raider companies.  This unit assignment criteria does not apply to site support personnel at Inspector-Instructor (I-I) units.
2b.  Chapter 4 will be deleted in its entirety.
3.  This message is applicable to the Active Component and members of the Active Reserve program.
