Academic Year 2027 Officer Professional Military Education Distance Education Program

This MARADMIN announces the Academic Year 2027 Officer Professional Military Education (OPME) Distance Education Programs offered through the College of Distance Education and Training (CDET). The programs include the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP) for captains and the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (CSCDEP) for majors, with seminars running from September 2026 through May 2027. Eligible personnel must register by July 31, 2026, through the Marine Corps e-Learning Ecosystem (MCeLE).

1. This message provides information for Academic 
Year (AY) 2026-2027 College of Distance Education and Training 
(CDET) Officer Professional Military Education (OPME) nonresident 
distance education programs.  For purposes of promotion, completing 
a seminar program is equivalent to completion of the associated 
resident schools for captains and majors.
2.  Student eligibility.  CDET OPME programs are Total Force 
programs.
2.a.  The following personnel are eligible to participate in the 
Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP) 
(in order of priority).
2.a.1.  Marine O3 (including selects and LDOs)
2.a.2.  CWO3 and CWO3 selects  
2.a.3.  International Officers 
2.a.4.  Other Service O3
2.a.5.  Marine O2 and CWO2 
2.a.6.  GS12 or equivalent 
2.a.7.  Marine E7-E9 (requires waiver for enrollment)
2.b.  Interested students that require a waiver should contact their 
closest CDET Regional Point of Contact (POC) listed in paragraph 4.b. 
to obtain more information on the waiver process.
3.  The seminars are executed through the CDET regional campuses.  
A map of each region's geographic areas and enrollment information is 
available at https://www.usmcu.edu/CDET/contact-regions.  The CDET 
OPME AY 2027 seminars will run from September 2026 through May 2027.  
AY 2027 seminar dates for the CDET seminar programs are as follows.
3.a.  EWSDEP is a CLS consisting of four 16-week seminars (courses 
8671-8674), which are all offered every semester.  All four courses 
must be taken in order and each course is offered each semester 
(fall/spring) each academic year.  Completion of the self-paced 
prerequisite is required to register for seminar.  Prerequisite 
enrollment is facilitated via the Marine Corps e-Learning Ecosystem 
(MCeLE)(formerly known as Marinenet) by searching for course code 
"EWSDEPPREQ."  Allow six weeks for prerequisite completion.

3.b.  CSCDEP is an Intermediate Level School (ILS), Joint 
Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I accredited program 
consisting of eight courses to be completed over two academic years.  
All eight courses must be taken in order, and each course is offered 
once each academic year.  Students complete four courses from 
September-May each year, with graduation following the completion of 
the second year.  
3.c.  The following personnel are eligible to participate in the 
CSCDEP (in order of priority).
3.c.1.  Marine O4 (including selects and LDOs)
3.c.2.  CWO4 and CWO4 selects  
3.c.3.  International Officers 
3.c.4.  Other Service O4
3.c.5.  GS13 or equivalent 
3.c.6.  CLS-complete O3 with 24 months time in grade (TIG)
3.c.7.  CLS-complete CWO3 with 24 months TIG (requires Regional   
        Director approval)
3.c.8.  Marine E8-E9 (requires waiver for enrollment)
3.d.  Interested students that require a waiver should contact their 
closest CDET Regional POC listed in paragraph 4.b. to obtain more 
information on the waiver process.
3.e.  Seminar registration deadline for AY 2027 is 31 Jul 26.  
Seminars begin the week of 8 Sep 26 and end approximately 18 May 27.
4.  Seminar Registration/Enrollment
4.a.  The seminar registration and enrollment process is student-
initiated via MCeLE.  Enrollment instructions are available at 
https://www.usmcu.edu/CDET/.
4.a.1.  Marines can request enrollment in any of the seminar programs 
at https://www.marinenet.usmc.mil.  For CSCDEP, use "9000CSCDEP" for 
course search; for EWSDEP, use "8670AZSEM0" for course search.
4.a.2.  MCeLE enrollment requests will be automatically forwarded 
to the regional office for processing.  It is vitally important to 
make sure all contact information, especially the preferred email 
address in the MCeLE profile, is up-to-date as this is what the 
regional office and adjunct faculty use to communicate with students.
4.a.3.  Members of regional offices will contact students that have 
requested enrollment to help determine student needs: delivery type 
(online or onsite), location, and day of the week. Overall student 
demand will affect the final seminar options.
4.a.4.  No later than seven days before the start of the scheduled 
seminars, all students will be contacted by their assigned adjunct 
faculty with their seminar information.
4.a.5.  EWSDEP Students are not automatically enrolled in the next 
course within the curriculum progression.  Students must contact 
their regional office to participate in follow-on seminars.  
4.a.6.  CSCDEP students are not automatically enrolled in seminars 
between first year and second year seminars.  CSCDEP students must 
contact their regional offices to be included to second year 
seminars.
4.a.7.  Information on the EWS/CSC Blended Seminar Program is 
published in MARADMIN 158/26.

5.  Coordinating Instructions
5.a.  Temporary additional duty is not authorized for these seminar 
programs.
5.b.  All students will require access to a personal computer with 
audio and video capability and internet connection while 
participating in a seminar program.
5.c.  All students must have Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and 
Adobe Reader installed on their personal computer.  All other word 
processing, presentation, and spreadsheet programs, including but not 
limited to Numbers (Mac), are not fully compatible and are 
unacceptable for student use.
5.d.  Students are highly encouraged to have an active civilian email 
account associated with their MCeLE and Moodle profiles.  Students 
will receive emails directly from Moodle with course information, 
assignments, and correspondence from adjunct faculty.
