Military Occupational Specialty Renaming
This MARADMIN announces the renaming of 19 Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) to use gender-neutral titles, replacing terms containing "man" or "crewman" with "Marine" or other neutral alternatives. The changes are effective immediately and apply to all active duty and reserve Marines, requiring updates to all training materials, references, websites, and correspondence.

1. Per references (a) and (b), a comprehensive review of all Marine Corps Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) titles with the word man in them was conducted to determine which MOS titles would retain the word man and which ones should be updated to a gender neutral title. 2. On 24 June 2016 the Secretary of the Navy in agreement with the Commandant of the Marine Corps has approved the following changes to Marine Corps MOS titles. These changes are effective immediately and apply to the total force. 3. It is directed that all Programs of Instruction, references, websites, social media, and correspondence be updated immediately to reflect the below changes. 4. This message has been coordinated with Marine Corps Combat Development Command (Total Force Structure Division) and Training and Education Command. All official changes will be incorporated in the next revision of reference (c).
