Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy School Cancellations, Class Rescheduling and Amplifying Guidance for Attending a Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy During the Month of August 2020

This MARADMIN announces Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA) class cancellations, rescheduling, and modified attendance requirements for August 2020 due to COVID-19. Multiple active duty Sergeants School and Advanced School classes are cancelled, while new Career School classes are added with reduced capacity. Marines from red states/installations cannot attend due to quarantine requirements, and all students must bring face masks for use during instruction.

Issued: July 30, 2020
1. Force protection measures instituted due to the COVID-19 virus, coupled with uncertain postures at multiple installations at which resident enlisted Professional Military Education (PME) schools are conducted, have impacted scheduling, capacity, and travel. This message announces class cancellations, school scheduling changes, updated school seat allocations, travel restrictions, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for the August 2020 classes for the Regional Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academies (SNCOA). This message also announces additional non-resident opportunities to mitigate lost resident seats.
2. Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) and Temporary Additional Duty (TAD). Current guidance requires travelers from states or installations determined to be in condition red who travel for TAD to arrive and self-quarantine for 14 days prior to the start of a class date. Due to the limited resources and billeting at the SNCOAs this requirement cannot be satisfied. As such, SNCOAs will only accept students from green states or local TDY/TAD attendees. No out-of-area students from red states will be accepted for admittance to the academy under any circumstances.
3. PPE. Marines attending a SNCOA school will be required to bring a face mask for use during their attendance while in the classroom, during group events, and in any area that six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained. Masks will conform to the guidance as outlined in reference F. SNCOAs will not provide PPE to students.
