Available Artificial Intelligence and Data Management Training Resources
This MARADMIN announces available training resources for artificial intelligence (AI) and data management for Marines and Government Civilians. It provides a comprehensive list of training platforms including MCeLE, JKO, Digital University, and academic institutions like Naval Postgraduate School. All Active Duty and Reserve Marines must complete the Basic AI Course (CDETBAIC01) by 31 December 2026.

1. Purpose. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to provide awareness of some of the current data management and artificial intelligence training resources available to Marines and Government Civilians. These resources represent the currently available training tools as the USMC expands its data management and artificial intelligence (AI) training and education across the force. The end state is to establish a baseline of basic awareness for all Marines, with opportunities for more advanced, specialized training for those seeking to develop deeper expertise in these critical capabilities. 2. Background 2a. Per Reference (a), the Deputy Commandant for Information (DC I) is appointed as the Service Lead for Data and AI. Ref (a) establishes the Service Data Office (SDO) to lead the transformation of the Marine Corps into a data-centric and AI-enabled force. A highly trained and skilled workforce is critical to ensure Marine Corps data is Visible, Accessible, Understandable, Linked, Trustworthy, Interoperable, and Secure (VAULTIS). 2b. Per Reference (b), the Marine Corps established the USMC AI Implementation Plan to align resources and activities across five primary goals: AI Mission Alignment, AI Competent Workforce, AI Deployment at Scale, AI Governance, and Partnerships and Collaboration. To build an AI-Competent Workforce, specific tasks are assigned to the Training and Education enterprise to identify, prioritize, and institutionalize proactive learning resources. 2c. Established as a direct-reporting element to the Deputy Commandant, Training and Education (DC T&E) Command Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) serves as the command's authoritative voice for data governance, analytics, and artificial intelligence integration across the training and education enterprise. To ensure the force remains informed of rapidly evolving digital resources, TECOM CDAO will publish this training resource update on a quarterly basis, providing regular updates on available training and workforce development opportunities. 3. Available Training for Marines and Government Civilians 3a. Marine Corps Electronic Learning Environment (MCeLE) offers a variety of data and AI resources, to include both self-paced and instructor-led courses. Per Reference (c), completion of the Basic AI Course (CDETBAIC01) is mandatory for all Active Duty and Reserve Marines, both officer and enlisted, no later than 31 December 2026. Civilians working within Marine Corps departments are also highly encouraged to complete this course. Additionally, II MEF hosts data training resources on MCeLE, to include the Basic Data Literacy Course (DATA0BAS01), providing Marines with an introductory course on working with and interpreting data to inform decisions and support data initiatives in their organizations. MCeLE can be accessed at https://www.mcele.usmc.mil. 3b. IT Modernization, Centers of Excellence hosted live AI Training sessions in 2024 in partnership with multiple academic institutions and were tailored to three subject tracks: technical, acquisitions, and leadership/policy. Digital University provides a variety of training resources across multiple subject areas to DoW entities. Currently, Marines are offered resources through Workera and can request an account at https://digitalu.af.mil/app. 3d. Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) maintains a page dedicated to AI training resources, including an interactive dashboard where users can explore AI topics and emerging insights. Warfighting Acquisition University (WarU) provides a variety of training on AI-related topics tailored specifically to the DoW workforce, from basic concepts to testing applications. GenAI.mil provides a list of live virtual training events hosted by Google that users can register for and learn AI fundamentals and the basics of developing their own AI Agents. https://genai.mil/events. 3g. Google Skills provides large variety of asynchronous learning opportunities from beginner to advanced, made available through GenAI.mil. Enterprise Information Services hosts a variety of training to develop users understanding and skills regarding Power Platform, SharePoint, and Azure. Users can register for training sessions at https://usmc.sharepoint-mil.us/sites/SPO_training. 3i. War Data Platform (WDP) provides training to users on topics ranging from beginner to intermediate. This includes self-paced beginner to advanced training by role as well as a monthly training series hosted virtually via Teams. The Microsoft Organizational Skilling program is Microsoft's corporate training service designed to accelerate cloud and AI adoption by directly upskilling the enterprise workforce. It provides structured learning pathways, free on-demand videos, hands-on labs, and expert-led interactive courses tailored to a variety of technical roles. Users must link a personal Microsoft account to their .mil account to use the resources. It can be accessed at https://esi.microsoft.com. 3k. Palantir training resources can be found within the Maven Smart System (MSS) platform. Users should first get access to MSS using the guidance outlined in Reference (d). Users can then access the USMC MSS Training Hub on SIPR at https://palantir.maven.nga.smil.mil /workspace/module/view/latest/ri.workshop.main.module.cea8e2e8-4a70 -4a62-9983-9304e356ef09. Units may also contact local training representatives listed within the USMC MSS Training Hub to coordinate tailored command-level training. 3l. Waypoints is the Department of the Navy's enterprise system for learning and talent management for the civilian workforce. It acts as a full-service tool for career planning, learning, and development, providing access to training requirements and allowing supervisors to track progress and recommend developmental opportunities. In addition to the enterprise-level resources listed above, Marines and Civilian personnel should coordinate with their local commands to identify additional specialized or command-specific data and AI training programs available at the local level. 4. Academic Institutions 4a. The US Navy Community College (USNCC) offers a variety of programs and certificates relevant to data and AI. Marines can pursue both certificates and associate's degrees in subjects ranging from Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Data Analytics and Cybersecurity. Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) offers advanced degrees and certificate programs through its distance learning program, including specializations in Modeling, Visualization, and Simulation; Data Science and Decision Making; Artificial Intelligence for Military Use; and Data Science Certificates, among others.
