Announcement of FY20 Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group Course Dates
This MARADMIN announces the FY20 course schedule for Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG) training, including four Marine Advisor Courses, six Security Cooperation Planners Courses, and Basic Engagement Skills training available by request. The courses are designed to prepare Marines for security cooperation missions by providing advisor skills, engagement planning expertise, and cross-cultural communication capabilities.

1. The Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG) is conducting four open enrollment Marine Advisor Courses (N03KYK3), six Security Cooperation Planners Courses (N030JX3), and Basic Engagement Skills training by request in order to support theater security cooperation (SC) activities.<br> 2. Marine Advisor Course<br> 2.a. The Marine Advisor Course provides fundamental advisor skills, training management, and force protection training to prepare Marines for SC missions. Through formal instruction and immersive environment scenario training, students learn to analyze and apply operational culture to their mission, build and maintain relationships and rapport with foreign security force (FSF) counterparts, recognize and mitigate cultural stress, develop and implement training plans, understand U.S. government objectives and plans for an assigned region or country, and conduct force protection while deployed. Students graduate prepared to teach, coach, and advise a FSF in order to develop its organizational capability and / or capacity in accordance with U.S. government, Service, and FSF objectives. Security Cooperation Planners Course (SCPC)<br> 3.a. This five-day course will explore the SC policies, procedures, and methodologies used to develop and execute SC engagement plans. Students will gain an understanding of SC-related policy, doctrine, and guidance documents, engagement planning best practices, funding authorities, and foreign disclosure. The relationship between the Department of Defense and the Department of State, as it relates to SC, will also be addressed. The course is built around lectures, panel discussions, and a series of practical exercises which guide student creation of key parts of a Security Cooperation Engagement Plan (SCEP). Basic Engagement Skills (BES)<br> 4.a. The Basic Engagement Skills (BES) Mobile Training Team (MTT) provides MCSCGs BES package, which includes the following classes: intro to SC, recognize culture shock, non-verbal communication, establish cross-cultural relationships, employ interpreters, and foreign disclosure, along with a class on tools and resources, negotiation and mediation, and a scenario practical application.<br> 4.b. MCSCG will conduct BES MTTs as requested for deploying units conducting SC. The BES MTT provides the trained unit with the requisite skills to aid in the preparation, execution and accomplishment of the myriad of mil to mil and SC events that it will conduct over the course of its deployment.<br> 5. In order to request a MCSCG MTT, provide a feasibility of support request with the following: Type of training (BES/SCPC), enter dates enter month for the number of personnel via MTT to city, country.<br> 6. Quotas for remaining courses should be referred to MCSCG academics section POCs. Registration is coordinated and controlled by the MCSCG training branch/academics section.
