Guidance on Foreign Area Employment-Overseas Tours

This MARADMIN updates guidance on Foreign Area Employment-Overseas Tours, superseding MARADMIN 138/16. It implements MCO 12301.1C (effective 11 September 2017), which aligns USMC policy with DoD and Navy policies by requiring that overseas tour extension approvals be made at the Commanding General level without further delegation.

Personnel Announcements

1.  This MARADMIN supersedes MARADMIN 138/16 of 9 Mar 16.
2.  MCO 12301.1C was signed and effective 11 September 2017.  The effect of reference G was to align USMC policy for Foreign Area Employment–Overseas Tour Extensions with Department of Defense and Department of Navy policies.  As such, approval of tour extensions IAW reference G will no longer be delegated below the Commanding General level.  This authority may not be further re-delegated.
