Accommodating and Charging Geographical Bachelors on Marine Corps Installations

This MARADMIN updates guidance on accommodating and charging Geographical Bachelors (GBs) living in Marine Corps Unaccompanied Housing. It cancels MARADMIN 548/17 and establishes that GBs authorized to reside in unaccompanied housing facilities will be housed at no cost with no services provided, until MCO 11000.22 is updated.

Issued: March 13, 2023
1. Purpose. To promulgate updated guidance on Marine Corps practices for accommodating and charging Geographical Bachelors (GBs) living in Marine Corps Unaccompanied Housing (UH).
2. Background. MARADMIN 548/17 established standardized rates for services provided to all GBs. Revenue received was to be deposited into each installation's Billeting Fund Account. All services were discontinued on 25 Sep 22 with the consolidation of Temporary Duty (TDY) and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) lodging programs into a single lodging non-appropriated fund instrumentality (NAFI). Accordingly, updated guidance on GB accommodations and charges is required.
3. Action.
3.a. MARADMIN 548/17 entitled "Accommodating and Charging Geographical Bachelors on Marine Corps Installations" is hereby cancelled.
3.b. Refer to Marine Corps Order (MCO) 11000.22 for guidance on accommodating GBs aboard Marine Corps Installations. Until MCO 11000.22 is updated, GBs authorized to reside in UH facilities, regardless of rank, are to be housed at no cost, with no services provided. Installation Commanders may approve exceptions for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and above to be housed in enlisted unaccompanied housing facilities.
4. Release authorized by LtGen Edward D. Banta, Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics.
