National Insider Threat Awareness Month 2026

1. This MARADMIN provides guidance on the Marine Corps observance 
of, and participation in, National Insider Threat Awareness Month
(NITAM) 2026.
2. General.  September is designated as National Insider Threat 
Awareness Month (NITAM). The Marine Corps, in conjunction with 
Department of War (DoW) components, will observe NITAM 2026 under 
the theme, "Protect Our Potential." This theme underscores that 
securing classified information, advanced technology, and 
operational security directly preserves future combat lethality and
the trusted bonds between Marines. Proactive identification and 
mitigation of insider risks ensure Marine Corps strategic 
capabilities and the lives of our service members are never 
compromised from within.
3. Marine Corps participation in NITAM 2026.
3.a. The Marine Corps Insider Threat Program (MCInTP) will lead 
Marine Corps NITAM 2026 efforts.
3.b. The objective of the Marine Corps NITAM 2026 campaign is to 
empower all Marine Corps personnel with the knowledge and resources
necessary to proactively identify and prevent insider threats, 
thereby safeguarding personnel, information, and mission 
capabilities. This effort emphasizes a shift from reactive response
to proactive prevention through a culture of awareness, connection,
support, and force resilience.
4. Commanders. To support this objective, Commanders will promote
participation in NITAM-sponsored events and facilitate insider
threat-related training within their units throughout September.
4.a. A complete listing of NITAM-related events, virtual workshops,
and training opportunities is available at

4.b. On-site training support. In recognition of NITAM 2026, the 
MCInTP will provide on-site training support from the date of this 
message through December 2026. Commanders seeking on-site insider 
threat training may submit requests to the points of contact listed
in this message or via email at insiderthreat@usmc.mil.
5. Marines. Countering insider threats requires commitment from 
every member of the Total Force and prompt reporting of potential 
risk indicators (PRIs). Most malicious insiders exhibit observable 
PRIs such as misplace anger. declining performance or compliance
violations prior to engaging in harmful activity. Upon identifying 
a PRI, Marines will not ignore it. They will gather context, engage
their chain of command, and report concerns through established

6. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force. This
MARADMIN is cancelled one year from the date of publication.
